What are you Excited About this New Year?
Are you like me? You think a shiny new year is exciting and full of promise? I’m one of those people
who can’t wait to break open the new planner and set my sights on knocking out my goals one by
one. While planning feels good to me and gives me a sense of control, I am aware there is a still
unknown future state and change can occur quickly, with little consideration of my carefully
constructed plans.
Using time early in the year to enhance your skills and become expert at leading the people side of
change will positively impact your project management expertise. According to the Project
Management Institute, project professionals who invest in themselves to differentiate and enhance
their skills, experience productive, profitable and longevity in their careers.
Organizational change management, which was once seen as an optional aspect of a project, has
become an essential component in today's rapidly changing world. One important aspect of effective change management is engaging and educated project leaders. Focused and process driven project professionals have tremendous impact on their organizations and the people who make up the
organization. The goal of organizational change management is to reap the benefits of the change
through stakeholder adoption. In other words, if people accept and use the change the project
implements, the benefit expected from change is realized.
As you begin your new year, make it a goal to enhance your skills with training in organizational
change. Project professionals and leaders who understand how to effectively implement and lead
change within their organization, are essential in our new world. Our READY, Set, Change! training
covers a range of topics, including how to assess the impact of change, how to communicate
effectively with stakeholders, and how to create a plan for implementing and sustaining change. We
also teach individuals how to recognize and address resistance to change, as well as how to build
support for change within the organization to increase the likelihood of successful adoption.
READY, Set, Change! training benefits individuals and organizations in many ways. It can help to
build confidence and competence in leading change, as well as increase job satisfaction and career
advancement opportunities. Training in change management is an important investment for anyone.
Use your time wisely this year to invest in your capabilities. Organizational change training is worthy
of a place on your shiny new year, to-do list.
